He discusses his son, Archie, who he claims is 'interested himself in the marble industry with a view to taking it up seriously'. He closes the letter with a post script referring to this work, 'he is bringing you a little pamphlet of mine, which has done rather well so far!'.With a tipped in price slip to the half title, as called for.Norman Douglas wrote this work as a reply to D.H Lawrence's attack on Maurice Magnus in his introduction to 'Memoirs of the Foreign Legion'. Douglas and Lawrence were both friends of Magnus, and Douglas was his literary executor. Lawrence's introduction to the memoir was used to sell the book, but Douglas felt he had maligned his dear friend. This feud between Douglas and Lawrence was long-running and this publication was the first of Douglas's public airings of feuds. CONDITION In the publisher's original paper wraps.
