Vladimir Gurko-Kryazhin (real name - Gurko, 1887 - 1931) is a famous Russian orientalist, author of research on the modern and recent history of Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan and other countries of the Middle East, an archaeologist and ethnographer of the Caucasus, one of the first organizers of the "new" Soviet "Practical" oriental studies of the 1920s.
