Full red calf binding by Riviere [binders signature in small type on rear of front fly leaf), spine gilt in compartments, top edge gilt, decorative borders to boards and gilt crest to upper cover. Marbled endpapers. Ex-libris 'Orleton School, Scarborough', with armorial bookplate to front fly leaf (but not 'ex-library' in that sens, as there are no markings of stamps). Size: 8vo (21.5cm x 14cm).Very Good condition. Binding and hinges solid. Very minor rubbing to head and foot of spine, and a few tiny marks to covers. Light scattered foxing to endpapers. A few small spots of foxing to title and first and last few text leaves. Otherwise any foxing restricted mainly to fore-edges of text block. Fold-out map with creases to edges where it has been misfolded, and some edge browning, and with a 12cm closed tear (repaired to verso with archival tape), with a small chip (repaired) to lower right corner where map joins the stub). Plates generally clean and bright, and text likewise with a hint of uniform age-toning.
