Burlington Fawcett. These ballads are named the 'Jersey Collection' as the location these ballads were taken from owned by the Earls of Jersey for centuries. Osterley Park is one of the largest open spaces in London. It is the home of a large mansion which is often referred to as 'Osterley House'. The house and grounds belonged to the Earls of Jersey for many years starting in 1785. The house was opened to the family in 1939 following the Second World War as there were many requests to see the house's historic interiors. This edition is limited to seven hundred and fifty copies for sale, of which this copy is numbered '305'. Complete with scarce original unclipped dustwrapper. The ballads to this work provide the reader with an idea of society in the Restoration period. CONDITION In a quarter paper vellum binding with cloth covered boards, in original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, minor shelfwear to extremities and head and tail of spine. Dustwrapper, chipped and creased to extremities. Small closed tears to head and tail of joints, and spine. Slight handling marks and rubbing to wraps. Internally firmly bound. Pages slightly age toned but very bright and clean throughout.
