Description: 1930 Sacramento California Calendar A POPPY FIELD W.F. Jackson Cardboard Cover This almost 100-year old calendar is in exceptional condition. Inside it has advertisement for various merchants in Sacramento. And on the flip side of the painting, there's nearly an essay about WF Jackson. I used to work at the Crocker Art Museum (previously known as the EB Crocker Gallery), and this painting was in the exhibits. It's a gorgeous piece. I love the fact that Jackson was alive and the curator at the Crocker when this calendar as published! Here's what the publisher of the calendar ( International Art Corporation, San Francisco) has printed on the back: "A Poppy Field W.F. Jackson The beautiful poppy fields of California have become intimately known and loved through the brush of the famous artist, Mr. W.F. Jackson of Sacramento. As a youth, Jackson made the great trek across the Continent, and his first glorious impression of the golden covered hillsides of California inspired his artistic career. Mr. Jackson is the recognized master of this type of painting and has achieved international fame, not only for his poppy subjects, but for mountain scenes in California, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. His paintings hang in homes and galleries in practically every state of The Union and in every art center of Europe. Mr. Jackson is and has been for many years, the curator of the E.B.
