Description: From my personal Hotel Silver Collection is a gorgeous and unusual water pitcher made for the Cosulich Italian Line in the 1930s. This pitcher has been beautifully restored and re-plated in heavy shiny silver. This is a striking piece and will be a stand out piece in your collection. The Italian Line has a rich and fascinating history: The Coulich Line, formally the Cosulich Societa Triestina de Navigazione was a steamship line that was based in Trieste, Italy. It was founded in the late 1800s by Fratelli Cosulich of Trieste, Italy, providing services from cities in Italy to New York, New Orleans and South America. It had a bumpy ride economically until after the end of World War I. After the armistice, the Cosulich Line was re-born and resumed services. In 1937, Cosulich was absorbed (with many other shipping lines) into Italia Societa Anonima de Navigazione, more commonly referred to as the Italian Line. It is side-marked with the Cosulich logo which consists of a savoy knot intertwined with Cosulich's "C" beneath a crown. It is heavily silver plated and is in great shape with no denting and just minor usage markings. According to its rich history, it was on board an elegant liner sometime between 1903-1937. It measures approximately 9 inches at its highest point and is about 7 inches from the end of the spout to the end of its handle.
