Homer Pennock and William Penberthy established The Penberthy Injector Company in April 1886 in Detroit to manufacture injectors for steam engines. Penberthy remained profitable and independent for 70 years, until 1956, when the company was bought by the Buffalo-Eclipse Corporation. Beginning in 1986, Penberthy has been bought and operated by a number of corporations: Stanwich Industries, Inc. in 1986 and shortly after by Devlieg-Bullard, Inc.; Newflo Corporation in 1992; Precision Castparts Corporation a few years later; Tyco International Inc. in 2000; and Pentair Ltd. in 2012. In 2017, Penberthy was was acquired by its current parent, the Emerson Electric Company. Over this century and a half, Penberthy has manufactured and sold steam injectors; ball valve automatic injectors; gauges; faucets; lubricators; brass hose nozzles; carburetors; ejectors; jet pumps and syphons; foot valves; strainers; "noiseless" water heaters; sump pumps & cellar drainerss; mileage testers; and drier equipment (for paper industry).
