Dust jacket is overall intact, and illustration on front cover remains presentable. Tan cloth boards scuffed at edges and worn/bumped at corners. Head and tail of spine bumped. Title label on spine lightly toned. Illustrated plate on front board also lightly toned. Light toning to edges of boards. Previous ownership signature, in pencil, found on top edges of front end-page and fly-leaf. Front gutter split at head of front fly-leaf, binding mesh exposed. Text-block lightly toned, mostly at edges of leaves. Binding intact. Please see photos. Rockwell Kent (1882-1971) was an American painter, printmaker, illustrator, writer, sailor, adventurer, and voyager. A transcendentalist and mystic in the tradition of Thoreau and Emerson, Kent found inspiration in the austerity and stark beauty of wilderness. He lived for extended periods of time in Winona, Minnesota, Newfoundland, Alaska, Vermont, Tierra del Fuego, Ireland, and Greenland.
