Description: 1935 FIRST UK EDITION AND FIRST PRINTING, THE WIMP & THE WOODLE AND OTHER STORIES, ILLUSTRATED BY WILLY POGANY WITH ITS ORIGINAL SLIP CASE AND DUST JACKET. Overall the book is in excellent condition. The book is completely unrestored and original. This book is very notorious for having serious condition issues with its missing slip case. The dust jacket is protected with a Bro Dart transparent cover. Please use the detailed pictures as reference for condition. First edition and first printing, 1935 “The Wimp & The Woodle and other stories” Illustrated with all five color plates and b&w illustrations by Willy Pogany. Published by Suttonhouse Ltd. Stories in the book are by Muriel Smith, (The Doll Who Was Too Sharp), Loretta Moore (The Town of Clock Makers) Blanche Ashley Ambrose (Coppa Hamba), Margaretta Harmon (How Santa Found the Cobbler's Shop) Jean Muir (The Cardboard Castle) and Harriet Smith Hawley (The Goose Girl of Nurnberg). Two color versions of the boards were made, blue and burgundy. The burgundy color is the first UK edition preceding the blue American edition. Along with its original dust jacket, the book is stored in its original designed publisher’s slipcase box. The publisher’s box is extremely rare. Many oversized books illustrated by famous illustrators of the time had publisher’s slipcase boxes, but those are the first to get lost (along with their dust jackets) and in many instances books that originally had a slipcase are yet to be discovered with it.
