Description: Van Gogh “Bedroom at Arles" Lithograph found in attic in original shipping container which has some very old stamps and addresses printed on it. Cannot make out the date on packaging or stamps, however based on research, it was sent from Anton Schroll & Co to the Tribune Book & Art Center, New York City sometime in early 1940’s… 1937 Limited Edition #35 of only 899 has a copyright mark WGA printed at the bottom left and the limited print number of 899/35 at the top right. Of a Limited Edition on fine laid paper. Watermarked by the presses AWG. This is a rare large-format original lithograph in full-color. This is a very rare lithograph from 1937 and is in good/fair condition for its age (83 yrs.) and if the artist guild had not been licensed to create the series then no authentic limited edition of this or many of other of Van Gogh's artworks would be available in print form because he proliferated as an artist before the era of lithography within modern art. Anton Schroll & Co. is an Austrian publisher specializing in art literature, based in Vienna . The publishing house was founded on January 17, 1884 by Anton Schroll (1854–1919) as "Verlagbuchhandlung Anton Schroll & Co." with Paul Krebs from Berlin as a partner who left in 1899. Anton Schroll retired from managing the publishing house in 1913. The publishing house was then partially owned by the Reisser family of printers and publishers in 1931, and the Fromme and LW Seidel publishers were incorporated. In 1973 the publishing house became the property of the Geyer printer family (Agens Werk Geyer + Reisser). The interior in 1903 Initially the publisher only had a limited license for “applied arts sample sheets”, this was expanded in 1890 to include “works of art literary content”. The publishing house played a key role in the spread of Viennese Art Nouveau.
