Description: 1938 MARS AEROPLANES, PILOTS, AND AIRPORTS SET AND CHECKLIST (RARE COMPLETE SET of 50) Issued by Mars Confections in their Milky Way Bars. This rare set mixes of famous pilots, airplanes, and airports. These cards are similar (but slightly narrower) to the tobacco cards issued in the early 1900’s, measuring 1 5/16″ x 2 11/16″. Fronts include color images of pilots, planes, and airports with white borders and a title printed at the bottom. Backs include the set name at the top indicating a total of 50 cards. A description of the card subject is provided. Mars/Milky Way is noted on the bottom. This set is rare. Includes Charles Lindbergh and Amelia EarhartThe set features cards of the two most famous aviators of the time: Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart.The writeup of the Amelia Earhart card was clearly done in early 1937 in that her card states that her plane was damaged while taking off after flying from California to Honolulu in an attempt of a the first female to perform a circumnavigational flight of the globe.
