The people of Johnstown, PA need fear no longer angry flood waters overflowing the banks of Stony Creek and the Little Conemaugh which unite in the very heart of the city to form the Conemaugh River; In 1938 the city had suffered disastrously from floods. In 1889, more than 2000 persons lost their lives. Again, in 1936, a flood did damage amounting to around $40,000,000.
