Description: Up for sale is a 1947 1st Edition.1st Printing copy of "DESIGN FOR NOVEMBER" by Ronald Mitchell. The story of a town and a marriage and a love that came close to death. Against the quiet, peaceful atmosphere of a lovely old university town, Ronald Mitchell tells a memorable story of two young people who wanted no more than they deserved-and of a too strong will that bred a shocking tragedy. Sam Forester, graduate assistant in the Art Department at Creston considered himself a fortunate man. Sometimes he wondered why Catharine who was beautiful, popular and a Mackenzie had chosen to marry him-but he counted her as his chief blessing. Together they made the best of his meagre salary, and together they based their hopes on his promising future at the University. Their life was not an easy one, but their love for each other was secure. And even when the lovely wife of the man that Catharine might have married came to live in the fine old Cornish house in the luxurious residential section, Catharine never regretted her marriage to Sam. She loved him so much-she cared so much about his future-and she was used to having what she wanted. Then something happened that shattered a dream, a hope and an expectation. Ronald Mitchell tells a story of love and laughter, frustration and despair that builds into a tragic climax-of people it is a pleasure to know and a town down whose streets the reader could easily walk. He does so with wit and sympathy and a quiet, restrained skill that commands belief. To read this book is to share an unforgettable experience. This book is in very good condition.
