1947 Special Delivery, Airmail Cover from Hamilton Square, NJ to Chicago, IL

Description: 1947 special delivery, airmail cover sent from Hamilton Square, NJ to Chicago, IL. Interestingly, it was sent to the editor of The American Philatelist journal. It uses a 5c air mail stamped envelope (Scott #UC15 (die B)) with a red-and-blue striped border and red-and-white "Special Delivery" marking. The cover has two cancellations on the front reading February 14, 1947 (Trenton, NJ (2)), and there are two different cancellations on the reverse reading February 15, 1947 (Chicago, Ill.) and February 15, 1947 (Chicago, Ill. Grand Crossing Sta. Rec'd). In addition, there is a typed notation on the front reading "Special Delivery." The cover is also franked with one 3c (Scott #940) and one 10c (Scott #E15) stamps. Clearly, this was a very important letter. The cover is in excellent, clean condition.
