Made into the Academy Award winning movie of the same name in 1955, starring Glenn Ford and Eleanor Parker. This book was in the library of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale; interestingly Ms Lawrence was the Artist in Residence in the Music Faculty at SIU at the time, and attended the local Episcopalian church "...sitting in the rearmost pew, when hymns were sung her voice would fill the church, a memorable experience for all who were present". The last time the book was borrowed before retirement was in 1963. Condition as in photos and descriptions, this is the exact item you will receive. Please note that the main photo shows the color brighter than it is when looked at in person, it's close to the last two photos but those show a slight yellowing that is not there in actuality (I apologize, terrible lighting today). There is wear to the top and bottom of spine. No DJ. Library card inserts on blank pages in back as shown, and library numbers on front blanks.
