This listing is for The Courting of Elaine; Collection of Vintage Love Letters, 1950's & 1960's. A large pile of letters, all delivered to a young lady named Elaine, in Ardsley, PA. The earlier of these are from someone named "Card", who seemed to be a bit of a troubled soul and had a flair for being a bit too dramatic at times. I haven't read all of these, but I get the feeling that Elaine was stringing him along, and didn't enjoy the Card she was dealt.Over the next several years, through about 1963, there are an avalanche of letters from a U.S. serviceman named "Gil" who wrote to her faithfully from Puerto Rico, Japan, Beirut and other points across the globe, referring to her as his "future wife". Other items from this estate confirm that Gil and Elaine eventually married. There are approximately 80-90 letters here in total, most with original stamped Air Mail envelopes, some without.
