Description: 1950 COOKBOOK, "Burnt Toast" Recipes, California Babies & Childrens Hospital, DJ Click images to enlarge Description VINTAGE RECIPE COOKBOOK Wonderful vintage hardbound with dust jacket cookbook titled BURNT TOAST, published by The Women's Auxiliary of the California Babies' and Children's Hospital, 1415 South Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, California. Dated 1950, book measures 8-3/4" tall by 6" wide at about 301 pages. Compiled by the Women's Auxiliary and sold as a fund raising effort, it is chock full of a lovely variety of personal recipes and illustrations. Complete with Table of Contents, it is divided into courses, from Appetizers to Desserts with a few extra chapters -- love the chapter titled "Our Men and Their Recipes" -- some of these are a bit daunting -- but you can certainly try the O'Possum-Southern Style or the Tongue-Goulash (Yikes!). Condition is very nice with no tears, writing, folds or damage - covers are excellent, having been protected by the original dust jacket which is very chipped and worn -- some tanning on the inside board cover and the spine folds flat on the first few pages -- but all pages are firmly sewn into place.
