This listing is for a HOWDY DOODY ventriloquist doll made by Ideal Toys. It is the very rare large "dressed" version, made in the mid-1950s. The second photo shows the difference in scale between the standard and large size dolls. The figure is approximately 25" tall. It is made with hard plastic head, rubber hands, and stuffed body. The head is sculpted with an amazing likeness to the real Howdy Doody puppet, featuring glass sleep eyes and lifelike lashes. The mouth opens and closes using a pull-string located behind the neck. At 65 years old, the doll is in good condition overall with soiling to the clothes and considerable paint loss to the head, mostly the top and back, but the doll still looks and displays well. It is complete with the original scarf, belt, and elusive "Howdy Doody" boots, which are typically missing. The mouth and eyes still work great. This variation is virtually impossible to find in any condition. The next best thing to owning the real Howdy Doody! I'm sure you will love little guy.
