Description: This type of craft was really popular in the late 1940's, early 1950's! I have seen lots of this type of bowl, made from Christmas and other greeting cards, but this is the first one that I have ever see made from Church bulletins! It is quite charming, and shows it's age with great patina (the aged look things get over time). It has age flaws - there is some fading to the areas where it was exposed to light, as well as some light soil and water marks. The green yarn that was used to chrochet the panels together is worn, and starting to fray a bit. It just looks ... old! (Which is good, since it is vintage folk art!) It is tight and clean, and really displays well! It is from the Zion United Church of Christ in Strausstown, Pennsylvania that is now the Zion Blue Mountain United Church. I googled it, and the Church pictured on the bulletins matches the church that I googled. The Church, according to their website, has been in existence for over 275 years! The bowl is large - 11 1/2" across, 7" deep. It may have been made in a Sunday School class or Summer Bible Study class. It is really charming - the flaws give it so much character. It has been well used, and well loved. It is a really wonderful piece of vintage, religious folk art! I have lots of unusual vintage religious pieces, so take a look! JONESANTIQUES! JONESANTIQUES! I have thousands of items to sell, and would like you to be a return customer. About Us I have been an antiques dealer for over 30 years, and an Ebay seller since 2001. I specialize in vintage holiday decorations, and vintage craft items. I also like kitschy religious items, so sell those as well! I have written a number of buying guides, so take a look at my Ebay page. I guarantee authenticity on everything I sell. If I am selling a newer item or a reproduction, I will state it clearly in the listing. I have spent many years studying my specialities, and feel comfortable in guaranteeing my listings. You as my customer are the most important facet of my busines. I try and respond to every message within a few hours. Contact Us If you have any questions about me or any of my items, please contact me through the Ebay messaging system. This will ensure that I get your message in a timely fashion!
