Description: You are bidding on a unique Christmas Card made by Edith Widing Yaffee, artist, for the Sawyer family, Harold and Margaret.I have five different cards on auction. I am guessing this family knew her and she made their yearly Christmas card...The card measures about 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" and does have some wear.History of artist: artist Edith Widing Yaffee (1895-1961). Yaffee studied at the Boston Museum School with William MacGregor Paxton and Philip Leslie Hale, winning a scholarship there in 1914. She later studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. The winner of a Chaloner Prize, Yaffee worked and exhibited in Paris and also exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art and the Corcoran Gallery. Yaffee became a prominent portrait artist in the 1920s producing portraits of prominent figures such as the Mayor of Buffalo, New York and Alice Roosevelt (daughter of Teddy Roosevelt). Yaffee's work is in the collection of the Smithsonian Museum
