Description: 1951 Korean War Blood Chit Silk Aviator Survival Flag In 10 Languages 60830 F Survival flags were used by pilots and crew in the event of downing or parachuting from a damaged plane into potentially unfriendly territory. Written in 10 languages it identifies the person as American, asks for assistance in food, shelter, and protection from the Communists and help to return to "my people". Last line, "I will do my best to see that no harm comes to you. My government will reward you." These were made of silk for their durability (paper disintigrates when wet for instance), light weight, and rather easily concealed and/or carried on one's person at all times. Pretty cool history. Measures 15 3/8" x 9 3/8".
