Description: 1951 W T Copeland & Sons (Spode) fluted demitasse coffee cup and saucer, chinoiserie pattern Audley "Royal Jasmine" from Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire. Hand painted in multiple colours on a cream background, with a delicate starburst and swaggers motif and a solid green border. In excellent original vintage condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or restoration that I can identify, the cup has staining on the outside foot, refer image 4.There is some fine micro crazing on the inside of the cup, very typical of the period. The colours remain bright, clean and vibrant;the green border is not rubbed. Dimensions:Cup 6.2 cm tall and 8.5 from outer edge of handle to outer edge of cup.Saucer 11.5 cm diameter The reverse of both pieces bear the Spode's Audley Royal Jasmine England back stamp and hand written painter's marks.
