Description: 1951 W T Copeland & Sons (Spode) fluted tea cup and saucer, Chinoiserie pattern Audley "Royal Jasmine" from Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire. Hand painted in multiple colours on a cream background, with a delicate starburst and swaggers motif and a solid green border. In excellent original vintage condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or restoration that I can identify.There is some fine micro crazing on the inside of the cup, very typical of the period, refer image 3. The colours remain bright, clean and vibrant; the green border is not rubbed. Dimensions:Cup stands 7 cm tall and 11 cm from outer edge of handle to outer edge of cup.Saucer 14 cm diameter The reverse of both pieces bear the Copeland Spode's England Audley Royal Jasmine back stamp and hand written painter's marks.The saucer also bears the Copeland Spode impressed cypher and an impressed date code J51 which denotes Jan 1951.
