Description: Note: Please study the images carefully to determine the condition of this vintage photograph, as it may not be in perfect condition. It may contain wrinkles, cracks, and possibly even tears due to its age and how it was handled before it got to us. A scanner may interpret colors and contrast differently than human eyes will, so it is possible that the actual photograph may be slightly darker or lighter in person. This vintage photograph is offered for sale as a collectible item and conveys no transfer of copyright. 1952 Press Photo Elaine Myers processes furlough for Linwood E. Smith in Seattle Seattle: PFC Linwood E. Smith, Fredericksburg, Virginia, laughs as he points to remark in his service record explaining how he was demoted from Corporal. Smith was a member of General Matthew Ridgway's Honor Guard when he suddenly craved some candy. He snitched five pieces from the General's private candy stock. When the theft was discovered, it cost Smith a stripe, his Good Conduct Ribbon, and his position on the Honor Guard. Smith returned here today aboard the USNS General Simon D. Buckner on rotation from Korea. Miss Elaine Myers processes him for furlough. Photo measures 7 x 8.75 inches. Photo Is dated 1952.
