In the early 1950's Everard and his wife Jane embarked on a photographic journey through North Africa and Asia with the goal of capturing the exotic beauty and variety of the Asian female in the nude. The trip covered over 40,000 miles and much of the travel was by boat - taking almost one full year to complete. This fine nude study was from that early 1950's photographic journey through the Orient. Printed on heavy satin/matte finish stock, this photogravure is blank on the reverse side. The prints were etched and made by the highly respected London engraving house of Jared & Sons Ltd. of Great Britain. ABOUT PHOTOGRAVURE: Photogravure is an intaglio printmaking process utilizing a carefully etched copper plate made from the original negative/image. Prints are made by pressing suitable paper heavily down upon the inked copper plate which has been intricately etched to varying depths corresponding with the actual tonality of the original negative, This precisely etched plate combined with a fine "honeycomb" screen controls the amount of ink to be transferred to the paper at any given point in direct proportion to the variation of tone in the original image.
