1956 NASCAR Convertible Division Syracuse Mile Program, Curtis Turner Wins

Description: The program is in good condition with visible signs of wear to include a heavy verticle crease. All of the pages are secure, and there are no tears. Care is needed when handling. Numerous pictures were taken to assist with the condition and content of the program. This is a generic program that was issued at tracks that did not supply their own. There is no printed indication of which race it was distributed at, such as advertisements, race schedules, or specifics of the facility. The content is nationally based. However, this program has some qualifying results handwritten that identify it as being a mile track based on qualifying times. Along with the entry list and corrections made to car numbers, it can be determined that this program was issued for the Convertible Division race at the Syracuse Mile. The 24th race of the 1956 NASCAR Convertible season was held at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, New York, on July 4th. The one-mile dirt track featured a 100 lap race for 22 cars with Curtis Turner starting on the pole. Turner would lead every lap for a dominating win in front of 7,500 fans. This was his fourth Convertible win in 13 days. Finishing second, two laps behind, was Don Oldenburg followed by Larry Odo, Bob Welborn, and Joe Weatherly.
