Launched in 1954, it sailed under both Holland America and Regency Cruises until 1995; Regency renamed her the SS Regent Star. In its day the ship was one of the most luxurious ocean liners on the seas. It was scrapped in India in 2004. Another ship bearing the name SS Statendam V is currently in Pacific Coast service. The menu, dated Thursday, June 11th, is for Tourist Class. Featured were hor's d'oeuvres, soup, fish (turbot), entree (veal, chicken), vegetables, cold meats, salad, cheese, bread, dessert and a beverage. The rendering on the front of the menu shows a young boy in a traditional Dutch costume holding tulips. The menu, which measures appx 7 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches unopened and 11 x 7 1/2 inches opened, is printed on medium-weight cardstock.
