1960 Ideal Toy Corp. Motorized Astro Base Space Toy

Description: This is an awesome space-age battery operated toy from the notable Ideal Toy Corporation. The astro base itself is fully functional, with battery contacts good condition overall, but the scout car does not work. Overall the set is in excellent condition, with the following notable exceptions: - The box is somewhat degraded and has the most issues overall due to storage changes over the years - The scout car does not function (see below) - A tiny portion of the plastic housing over the scout car motor is slightly eroded. - There is some rust on the bottom assembly of the scout car - The image reel in the astro scope has warped over time so a brief section of it is out of alignment while turning Features: - Remote control scout car - "Space Lock": Extendable arm that can deploy and recapture the astronaut, or lift other accessories. - "Astro Scope": Space themed images in a rotating display - Simulated "Missile Fire": Produces a firing sound upon pressing the red button Listing includes most original contents: - Base and attachments - Scout car and attachments (excluding missiles) - Astronaut - Manual - Box Missing: - Scout car missiles - Factory inspection slip - Missile assembly pamphlet - Cardboard insert inside the box Scout Car: One of the contacts for the car is damaged, but even applying +/-6V to the car directly did not result in movement. The connections to the motor of the car are intact so its motor is likely seized or bad. I was able to test this unit with a different scout car to confirm there are no issues with the scout car port on the base itself. NOTE: Due to it's age, the controls/motor of the base can be slightly finicky. It is possible to over turn the the knobs past where the internal contacts are so do not be too heavy handed with them. Additionally, if the motor is not run for a long time it may need some help getting started but worked flawlessly during my testing after running it for a little bit. The motor and gearing has been adequately re-greased. Feel free to ask any questions.
