Description: The program and lineup both show wear to include some creases, worn pages, and some slight staining. All of the pages are secure, there is no writing, and there are no tears. The ticket stub is in excellent condition with a clean perforation and no creases. Numerous pictures were taken to assist with the condition and content of the program and lineup. The 1961 Southern 500 was held at Darlington Raceway on September 4th. The field of 43 cars was led by Fireball Roberts driving the #22 Smokey Yunick Pontiac. A huge crowd of 80,000 packed the speedway Marvin Panch, relief driving for Roberts, who was struggling with neck cramps, held the lead until he was passed by Nelson Stacy with seven laps to go. This was the first Grand National win for Stacy, who drove a Ford prepared by Holman Moody. Panch would finish 2.64 seconds behind, followed by David Pearson, Jim Paschal, and Emanuel Zervakis.
