Description: This is for an original program from the August 6 1961 games played between the New York Yankees and Minnesota Twins at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. The doubleheader would find the Yanks defeating the Twins 7-6 in 15 innings behind a 17 hit attack led by Mickey Mantles two home runs, number 41 and 42, tying him with Roger Maris and then giving him the lead with the second blast. The second game of the doubleheader would find the Mick adding to his home run total with number 43 giving the Yankees a 3-2 victory, even though the program is only scored for the first game. The two wins would give the Yanks a 2.5 game lead over the Tigers and they would go on to take the American League pennant and defeat the Cincinnati Reds 4-1 in the World Series. 15 innings is tough to score, but whoever did it did a good enough job to record history in the making. On this day, Mantle would not only take a two HR lead over Maris but he would also drive in his 100th RBI of the season while clouting career homers 361, 362 and 363. A nice memento from the glory days of the powerful 1961 Yankees. Check out the scans and email with any questions. Combined shipping always available for multiple purchases
