1964 Peugeot PL-8 Bicycle 22.5" Frameset France Eroica Randonneur Gentleman Rare

Description: Here is an extremely rare 1964 Peugeot PL-8 bicycle frameset. It is in good structural shape. The 22.5" steel allegre inoxydable tubeset is in good structural condition. The 120mm rear stay alignment is + or - 3mm from arrow straight. The 100 mm front fork blades are in good alignment too. The tubes show no dents, cracks or bends. The only frame item missing is the down tube shift braze-on for the Simplex shifters. If you're going with stem or bar-end shifters, then it's a moot point. That being said, it does show cosmetic scratching, rubs, scrapes, and weathering from 60 years of use. The decals are pretty aged and the headtube foil badge is missing. There is some surface rust for sure, but no brutal rustout. The bottom bracket shell shows good threading. The fork stem threading could use a thread chase, but will still nut up tightly. The frame still retains it's generator mounting bracket and the wire keepers for the full length--handy for hard wiring the lighting. This frame was unique in that it shared the Aztec lugs with the UO-8, but were painted black and lined in gold--a neat touch! This light metallic blue--although weathered-- is a beautiful color! This is still a very usable frameset. The PL-8 was notable for it's rugged stability and weight load capacity. At this point you could build it into a randonneur, porteur, sport tourer, or a gentleman's townie! It would be a wonderful build for a eroica group ride too!
