Father-son team, the McWhorters (left and center), made news at the New Orleans' Naval Air Station in Belle Chasse on July 10 when Donald E. McWhorter, Jr., enlisted in the Naval Air Reserve's Six-Month Program. Administering the Oath of Allegiance is Lieutenant Commander R.L. Weygand, NAS Recruiting Officer. Donald will report to active duty October 11 for recruit training at Memphis, followed by 12 weeks' duty at the Photo Intelligence School, Lowery Air Force Base, Colorado. He is a 1962 graduate of East Jefferson, Metairie, and attended Southeastern in Hammond, Louisiana. "Dad" McWhorter is an Aviation Ordnanceman Chief, in charge of the Ordnance Division of the Naval Air Station. He will retire August 14, with 19 1/2 years of active duty and will settle in New Orleans at 10420 Allan St., Little Farms. Photo measures 8 x 10 inches. Photo is dated 07-24-1964.
