The painting is executed in oil paint on canvas and features wide vertical blocks and bands of elevated textural oil paint. This composition is dynamic, energetic and demonstrates the utmost sophistication and artistic quality. Colours include peach, blue, cream, maroon, beige, brown and black. The work is reminiscent and complimentary of Hans Hofmann, Franz Kline, Willem de Kooning works from this period. The painting measures approximately 27" height by 23" width in the frame. The painting's art surface measures approximately 24" height by 20" width. The painting is clean and in excellent original condition with no adverse issues. The wood frame is original and may have some very basic light indications of time or use. This John Frances Williams painting was acquired directly through the artist's estate. As with many quality Abstract Expressionism paintings of this period and style the artist intentionally did not sign his work. The painting will be carefully prepared and shipped.
