ABOUT THIS PATTERN Most collectors have heard of the highly publicized factory error, 61111-1/2 Cheetah, but many have never seen one. If you are one of those please take a good look or better yet make it yours! This most sought after Factory error Cheetah has an extra 1 in the model number stamping, hence it is touted as the most famous factory error in the long history of Case. Instead of being 6111-1/2, its 61111-1/2. This extra 1 is only found in the tang stamp on a very few 1965 Cheetahs. I personally believe this error is unique to all other Case blunders due to the fact that it involved more than just a manufacturing process. Think about it; the designer may have actually added the extra one by mistake therefore the diemaker would have included it, but if not it was the diemaker who blundered, then there were those responsible for approving it, those who installed it in the stamping press, those who handled the blades after stamping, those involved in the hafting process, and whoever conducted the final quality control inspection before shipping. This elusive single-blade miracle slipped through all those cracks, and I consider that to be amazing as well as a blessing for us collectors. DESCRIPTION This beautiful near 60 year old Cheetah had not been cleaned or sharpened. The impressive Long, slender Saber Clip blade is free from any wobble. It locks up like a bank vault upon opening and displays outstanding loud snap when closing, all the while the swing guard operating exactly as it was designed to. These brilliant Red Bone handles are rich in color and a sight to behold, the photographs simply cannot do them justice. There are no cracks, no chips, no issues, and relatively no wear to be found. The double oval Case shield, both bolsters and backspring are in magnificent condition. Yes, this vintage old treasure has been used but it will forever remain the rarest of all Case factory errors.
