The medal is gilted metal, it is 1 1/2 inch in diameter and in a high grade circulated condition. At the obverse rim it reads ILLINOIS NUMISMATIC ASSN. NINTH ANNUAL CONVENTION - 1968. In the center it shows a bust that looks similar to the Morgan dollar bust, and around the bust it reads ILL. N.A. - FOUNDED 1959. On the reverse at the rim it reads ILLINOIS SESQUICENTENNIAL - LAND OF LINCOLN. In the center it shows the outline of Illinois with 21 at the top, a flag and the Liberty bell. Across the center it reads LIBERTY BELL OF THE WEST.
