Description: An interesting & scarce empty bubble gum store display cardboard box. This box was issued circa 1969-1972. The box lid has a large, factory applied, original decal label over the first factory printing on the top of the box. The decal design shows a person handing bubble gum to a giant who is only partially visible in the design. The top label has the wording "Bazooka's Big Buddy 5¢" & "The first bubble gum for giants!" The front edge panel of the box has the wording "Topp's New! Cherry Big Buddy Bubble Gum 5 ¢". The end panels have similar wording to the front panel & additionally they mention "48Ct". The back panel has the wording "Re-order Big Buddy the fast-selling big-ruler bubbly gum" & also "Now in 3 great flavors Cherry Grape Fruit" & additionally "Each flavor packed 48 enormous 5¢ bars per box." The colors are bright & vivid & show no fading. There are a few minor surface wrinkles & light creases along some areas of the box. The box lid is pushed down a bit causing the end panels to bow out a bit. The edges of the box show minor wear. The interior of the box is in clean condition & there are no gum stains. There are a few light brown spots underneath box. The top panel has perforations (as made) at the edge & this section of the top is detached from perforations (as intended for slanting up in a display). This section is still attached to the body of the box. The box appears to have never been used for display in the store as the folds at center ends of the top have never been bent up for display. This extra large sized store display box, certainly appropriate as a "gum for giants" container, measures size 12 inches long by 6 inches wide by 2 1/8 inches thick. The weight is 3.4 ounces. A fascinating box which has been residing in our collection for over 25 years.
