1970's Rawlings Willie Stargell XPG 26 USA Baseball glove CORRECT LH Pirates

Description: Here is a vintage 1972 USA made Willie Stargell model XPG 26 glove for a LH thrower meaning the glove fits on the right hand. Stargell was a left handed thrower, SO THIS IS A CORRECT HANDED GLOVE if you like to collect gloves that are made in the same handedness that the player actually was. The glove has soft leather and soft leather piping. The quality adult sized glove measures 11" long through the pocket. Glove has a full closed web. The glove was made with Stargell's endorsement in 1972 and 1973. On the back of the thumb on this glove is 2 dots, so the glove was made in 1972. The glove sold for $23.60 in1972 at a time when the top line HOH gloves sold for $59, so it is a nice midline glove. Stamped on the front is Spiral Top Speed Trap, "Deep Well Pocket, "The Finest in the Field!", Willie Stargell (facsimile stamped signature) Autograph, XPG 26, Rawlings, U.S.A. Hinged Pad. On the back is stamped L-Heel and Pat. No. 2,995,757 and the 2 dots (for the date code). There is a very faint 18.99 in marker on the back of the middle finger (you kind of have to look for it and I took a picture of the area for you to look at). The glove has a nice original red Rawling patch on the back. Lacing appears original and intact. The leather piping and welting also is in nice condition. Smooth soft interior leather with no chafing. Soft leather inside and out. Stamping on the front and back of the glove is all readable. The leather piping is soft and nice. It is a nice condition glove. Willie Stargell played all 21 years from 1962-1982 with the Pittsburgh Pirates as a Left Fielder and later a 1st baseman. He is a MLB Hall of Famer being inducted in 1988. He was a 7 time All-Star and was the 1979 NL season MVP, NLCS MVP and World Series MVP. In 1979 it was Willie Stargell's world, we were all just living in it. Of course the 1979 Pirates "We Are Family" team won it all but he also was on the Pirates 1971 World Series championship team that beat the Orioles.
