Chris at the time was a disen-chanted rock performer who was trying desperately to find his way back home, home to the kindof music he loved the best. Tho Chris had grown up within the shadows of the “big old barn” atRenfro Valley, this would be his first appearance on its famous stage. Chris was well known how-ever, to the local folks up and down Renfro and Copper creeks due to the many “church meetin”singings that he had done (and still does) with his Baptist preaching father. Chris had just turnedtwenty years of age at the time, having been born in 1952 in nearby Berea, Kentucky, home townof the late and great Red Foley. And now he was about to step to a mike in the exact spot whereRed had stood so many times in his early career. I was to learn all of this about Chris Robbins later. On this night I was just told that our “guest” would be a local boy from over the hill at CopperCreek, named Chris Robbins and that’s just about all he had for an introduction. The six yearssince that time, however has changed all that. I have been around to see many good things hap-pen to Chris. It was just a few short weeks following that first guest appearance that Chris becamea regular on the Renfro Valley show. His personal appearances out of Renfro Valley and with vari-ous opry groups takes him into more states each year. Chris is featured each week on the RenfroValley Sunday Morning Gatherin’, the second oldest continuous radio program in the nation andheard over a total of 85 radio stations each Sunday. Chris travels with his own band the “COM-MODORES” a fine Country-Rock group from Lexington, Kentucky, and now from Royal AmericanRecords a new Chris Robbins album. So once again I’m proud to say “Friends, here is a youngman I think you are going to like” from Copper Creek, Kentucky, his name is Chris Robbins.Pete Stamper® ROYAL AMERICAN RECORDS INC., Nash., Tenn., U.S.A., 1972Producer: Louis Owens lp3665-P-ELR1
