Description: This charming Christmas card was designed by the fabulous artist and cartoonist, Ralph Heimdahl (1909-1981). This is not the actual artwork, but rather one of the few cards printed from Ralph’s original design. Approximate measurements closed: 8 1/2” x 5 1/2” “Ralph Heimdahl was one of the most versatile artists of the 'Bugs Bunny' daily strip. He started illustrating the daily from its start in 1948, when it was written by Jack Taylor. Eventually, Heimdahl also took on the Sunday page, written by Al Stoffel. Heimdahl drew 'Bugs Bunny' until the 1970s. Ralph Heimdahl has also done some work for Disney in the late 1940s ('Bucky Bug', 'Dumbo'), and worked on the classic animated films 'Snow White' (1937) and 'Fantasia' (1940)…Comiclopedia” Incidentally, I believe his wife Esther (also referenced in the card), was an artist as well, and they met at Disney. I don’t know how many of these cards Ralph sent to friends and family, but I’m sure it was a select group that would’ve received one and certainly a treasure worth keeping! It’s in very good vintage condition with some mild creasing due to storage, and possible light tanning due to age. There is a lovely personalized note inside. I’m not sure if it’s Ralph’s or Esther’s handwriting. Please see photos for more detail and condition. Actual colors may vary from photos. Please note—I do not offer returns. This item will be carefully packaged and shipped via USPS with tracking and insurance.
