With the score tied at seven, Chicago Bear draft pick Virgil Livers returned a punt for a touchdown giving the All Stars a 14-7 lead. Terry Bradshaw and the starters played into the third quarter but the offense moved well once Gilliam enterted the game. Gilliam threw touchdown passes of seven yards to Rocky Bleier and 22 yards to Frank Lewis. Pittsburgh then shut out the All Stars the rest of the way.
