During the three-hour program, Hoagy receives the ASCAP award for "the stardust you sprinkled on everyone," and plays "Piano Peddle Rag," which he wrote for Bix Biederbecke. Carmichael's instrumentals were always in the forefront: "I was always disappointed that my voice wasn't better," he says.
