Description: Up for sale, a 1980 K. Yairi TG-50F jumbo in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. Not to be confused with the Yairi models marketed via a partnership with Alvarez in the USA, the K. Yairi instruments are far less common and were produced under a different distribution deal exclusively for Japan and Europe, crafted to exacting standards with premium tonewoods. This TG-50F is an extremely rare top-tier offering, clearly taking its design from Guild’s F-50, with a full 17” lower bout width and tonewoods including a solid X-braced spruce top, back and sides crafted from laminated quilted koa or sapele, and a mahogany neck capped with a bound ebony fingerboard. A big, bold powerhouse, this Yairi has notably full, warm lows and a rich low-midrange, offering plenty of kick without being overly boomy. There’s a smooth, percussive cut to the plain strings, with an ideal balance of jangle and punch, making this Yairi an ideal strummer with ringing sustain. This Yairi has been professionally setup with 12-53 strings, easy-playing action and accurate intonation.
