What makes this poster special is that it was mailed to Washington D.C in June of 1980 by a family member in Slidell LA., Shortly after the festival concluded in April. Check the Pictures. We purchased at the Estate Sale in the original Tube with the Poster inside. The family members said it was opened and looked at when received, never displayed, then put back in the tube. We have removed for pictures. We only see a few areas where rolling and unrolling shows minimal disturbance. Almost perfect. The items holding down the poster are not included in the auction. We know this poster has been sold out for many years. This piece is # 3881 of 10,000 produced. The 1980s were a pivotal time for the festival, as it began to attract major sponsorships and globally recognized artists. The festival moved to the Fair Grounds Race Course, which provided a larger venue to accommodate the growing crowds.This 1980 New Orleans Jazz Fest Poster features a vibrant and colorful design by artist Phillip Collier.
