Description: You will be able to see the marks on this piece from 41 years of real aging. This guitar, the R400 Ibanez Ragtime, is a 15" spruce top, with solid mahogany arch back and sides. Rosewood fretboard with tapered off fretboard reaching to 24 frets. The fret wires show surprisingly little evidence of play. There are scratches, and some dents on the back of the mahogany neck as well as on the body and face plate of the piece. The guitar has been setup with low action for ease of playing. Some of the jazz players in the office find this easy to play with nice speedy low action. This was set by shaving the saddle by our in house tech. The headstock is inlaid with an Ibanez logo. The trust rod cover on almost all of these is gone- disintegrated as nitrocellulose pick guards and truss rod covers will do. They emit a gaseous element that destroys the truss rod cover. We have left it as it came to us. The back of this guitar is nicely bellied. The sound hole has an interesting ornate surround. The finish is smooth. The spruce top has longitudinal marks that are markings that are not felt through the satin coat. Gives an interesting aged appearance. The case is a hard shell non-original Guardian case. I don't believe these ever came with a case. The sound is full and bright, and apparently designed for fingerpickers as in ragtime Please see photos below. This is a nice players ax, and relatively scarce being made, I believe only in 1981. Returns for inaccurate listing, or damage to the guitar on shipping. Please look at the photos closely to get a good feel for this vintage piece.
