Description: 1981 Press Photo Waukesha County has completed its expansion project This is an original press photo. Waukesha County has completed its expansion project for National Ave. from S. 124th St. to S. Moorland Road and has opened the stretch of road to traffic. County officials said the project was completed on budget and about 2 1/2 weeks ahead of schedule. All that remains is minor cleanup work. County Executive Daniel Finley will officially open the road in a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. Oct. 10 at Fountain Square Blvd. and National Ave. The county expanded the road from two lanes of five, including two-way, left-turn lanes as part of a two-year, $8.3 million project. The second phase of the project, which will widen National Ave. from S. Moorland Road to S. Calhoun Road, will begin next year.Photo measures 10 x 7.5inches. Photo is dated 10-02-1981.
