Description: Vintage 1982 KOREA Travel Guide KOREA NEW PEARL OF THE ORIENT Korea National Tourism Corporation 1982 I am not a dealer, describing to the best of my ability: This “Official” Travel Guide of the Republic of Korea contains information about the history, geography, customs, current demographic statistics and places of interest as well as extensive color photos and maps of Korea as it existed in 1982. A fold-out map is included in rear. Of interest, is that the book does not refer to North and South Korea. Rather, it states in a section entitled Size (p13): The Korean Peninsula is roughly equivalent to Great Britain…The northern zone of the nation, occupied by a Communist dictatorship, comprises…while the Republic of Korea to the south, with which this book is concerned, is smaller… The two zones are divided by a demilitarized zone.” The adjacent map shows all of Korea without any demarcation of this division. The fold-out map at rear shows less detail north of Seoul and ends somewhere north of that, but without any notation of a northern political border, or any demarcation or notation about the demilitarized zone. Very Good – almost “Like New” - condition, soft cover, appears to be no missing or torn pages. Fold out map remains bound in rear; has tiny tear along one crease. Approx. 5 1/2" x 7½ "; 226 pages.
