One of the first 100,000 NES systems offered in NYC for the Nintendo NES market test campaign during late Fall 1985, before the subsequent US nationwide release in late 1986 after the success of the test market. NES console of the approximately 40 MILLION NES units that were eventually sold in the United States! These first 100,000 systems were part of the NES test market in fall 1985. This is an original 1985 test market console, many pre-Deluxe Sets test market boxed sets seen offered here have a newer replacement non-matching console with later serial # from a later production date so are not true original test market sets without the original early production low serial # NES console that came with it, and the original early CPU board still inside! Console is all original inside with the very rare early NES-CPU-02 system board indicative of only the very earliest original NES test systems with low serial #s. The NES board versions were revised multiple times over the lifespan of the NES with eleven total versions, and this first NES-CPU-01 and 02 are boards are found in only the earliest NES systems offered in the US. Also, often when serviced or repaired back at that time the original board would just be replaced by Nintendo with a newer board so systems that may have originally had an early CPU board may be upgraded with a later board inside, which detracts from the collectability and value now. This one is still all original inside just as it came from Nintendo in 1985!Chips on the system board are all date coded late 1984 and 1985, with chips ranging from 8449 production date code (week 49 of 1984) to the latest chip coded "8543", indicating week 43 (October) of 1985 production, right in line with the timeline for the NES test market campaign launch in late 1985.System is freshly serviced and fully game PLAY TESTED and everything included is ALL WORKING! From smoke-free climate-controlled environment, so no smoke or old musty odors absorbed into the box or any of the included items like many will have which greatly detract from condition and value, but of course cannot be noticed from only online photos. System is shown working with the included original Duck Hunt game cartridge in one of the photos, TV is NOT included, for demo of this NES system in operation only.This is a FIRST release NES box set from 1985, produced before the 1986 branded "Deluxe Set" systems that came in this same style and size box, but have "Deluxe Set" printed on the front with some other design changes also. This pre-Deluxe Set box is dated 1985, the later revised Deluxe Set marked boxes are dated 1986. Original included system manual is not dated inside and there is no part number on the top corner of the manual cover, indicative only of the first print version from 1985, as subsequent printings added a part number and the print year inside. Console is the early style with the nice smooth more glossy top finish, unlike the later much more common matte textured finish on the top casing of later NES units. Console also has the 'Inside Washington State' phone # on the label on the bottom of console, and the R circle symbol after Nintendo on the console lid cover indicative of only earlier NES systems, as later NES units do not have these. LOW 35,586 Serial # console with rare early NES CPU-02 inside!Includes early 5-screw style Gyromite and Duck Hunt game cartridges in original Nintendo sleeves, original genuine Nintendo power supply, both original NES controllers in clean excellent working condition, original Nintendo RF adaptor, and the early original genuine Nintendo red and yellow NES audio/video cables "Made in JAPAN" as seen on the cable ends, later NES ones were not made in Japan. Original 1985 NES system manual is clean and nice, unmarked inside and all pages intact. Even includes the original clear plastic bag that the NES was packed in from the factory! Original box Styrofoam is complete, both the top and bottom halves. Foam is still very nice, clean and white, not cracked and broken apart or missing like many that still exist. The ORIGINAL Nintendo 72 pin connector inside the NES console was removed and cleaned. The cart contact pins of the connector were reset to the original position, so they are not flattened out from use and now make a solid connection with carts just like new! This is a very common problem with the original NES which causes games not to load and the flashing red light issue. It is much preferred to restore the original high-quality Nintendo pin connector, instead of just replacing with a lower quality modern reproduction that likely won't last very long and will hold the carts much too tight which can cause damage to your games. This system loads and plays perfectly with the refurbished original Nintendo pin connector! The contacts on the main board inside the console where the pin connector attaches, and the pins where the carts make contact were also cleaned with high-quality electrical contact cleaner. Contacts on the included game carts were cleaned also so this entire set works perfectly! Make sure any other game carts are cleaned before inserting so not to contaminate the clean pin connector in this NES. NES console is in beautiful collector-quality condition, not yellowed or discolored, NO cracks or chips, no missing pieces on corners. Very minor typical imperfections from original use, very clean and extremely nice cosmetic condition compared to most seen now. Console is super smooth and shiny on top, beautiful to display in a collection! System is fully detailed all around, not dirty or dusty. The inside of the NES console was cleaned with compressed air so no dust or dirt inside, controllers clean and detailed and work perfectly. This early original 1985 early test market NES complete boxed set is ready to prominently display and play! Interior box flaps not torn or missing, box is not taped over or written on, and the original UPC is still on box not cut out! Box handle is present, not torn through the box or missing like many are. Typical minor shelf wear and imperfections to the box as shown. Small original price sticker on the front of box, $129! Very nice for being 39 years old! Box has nice vivid glossy finish with bright vibrant colors, perfect to prominently put on display! These original 1985 NES Test Market boxed sets are very hard to find now in actual game play tested and fully working condition, and especially in this nice clean cosmetic condition with the original early NES console! Most R.O.B. units seen offered now are typically not even tested to power on, let alone set up and connected and game play tested with an original NES system. Many R.O.B. units will have defective gears inside which is a very common problem, corroded battery compartments from old batteries left in, and other issues that make them in need of internal repair to use. This one is freshly serviced, everything tested, and fully operational as it was when new! A great gift for a vintage Nintendo or classic toy collector!R.O.B. Battery compartments of R.O.B. or the spinner attachment are clean and working, NO corrosion! Batteries are not included- spinner attachment uses one D size battery, and ROB unit uses 4 AA size batteries. Set also includes the original Zapper light gun for use with the included Duck Hunt game, also game play tested and working. R.O.B. and the NES Zapper will only work for actual gameplay on an older CRT style television or monitor, NOT on any modern televisions. A CRT display is required to receive signals and register input from R.O.B. and the NES Zapper.
