I have been a metal detector dealer since the late 1960's and I can assure you that this detector is working correctly in every way. This detector: was used very little by the original owner. When other detector companies were still building the awkward lunch-box sized detectors, this was the first computerized compact, balanced detector featuring the stable and efficient surface-mount technology. I serviced these units for many years. The three stacked boards are linked together by several multi-pin plugs. These plugs showed no oxidation anywhere the entire inside is like the day it was built. I tested everything and it all works as it should! I checked the inside for damage and found everything clean and fresh as new. The upper and lower stem are all original items! This detector is a very deep machine with state-of-the-art recovery speed and great ground-cancel properties! This detector has 24 programmable discrimination notch windows. These windows are right on the screen in front of you, so you know exactly what you are accepting and rejecting! Targets that are rejected, are still identified visually, yet the detector passes over these trash items silently. Programs: The GTA-1000 is pre-programmed for several types of treasure hunting, making it easier still! Coin Program: is for coin shooting in trashy areas where pull tabs, bottle caps and foil are abundant. Skip the junk and dig the treasure! ALL METAL (Zero discrimination) With many detectors the all metal mode may still have some degree of discrimination present, and items such as small iron is not detectable. The ALL METAL mode on the GTA-1000 will detect ALL METAL! Great for scanning logs or used lumber before sawing! The All Metal mode: is also great on gold nuggets when used with the small 4-1/2 inch nugget-sniper coil (included) Also, in the all-metal mode this hot little machine will still ID the targets! Beach Mode: This is the program to use in the water or on the beach where gold rings are hidden! The BEACH MODE can also be used even in private yards where rings could be present and where trash isn't a problem. Salt water beach hunters will be pleased to know that the beach program has been enhanced for better wet salt rejection. CUSTOM MODES: (A, B, C,) There are three! Here you can open and close target windows where ever you want! Great for hunting for a known target! If someone lost a valuable earring you could get a reading from the matching earring then close all the notch windows except that one! Now the detector will only see what you want it to see! The non-motion pinpoint mode: gives you a reading on the target depth, and it gives you Garrett's exclusive "Electronic Pinpointing" With this feature you can see on the screen when the target is centered under the center notch located in the middle of the coil!
