Description: Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a beautiful 19th Century high quality miniature painting on porcelain portrait of young woman in Period clothing mounted in a gorgeous dore bronze Napoleon III frame. The frame has elaborate embossed design covering each corner with the rest of the frame having borders with several different embossed textures. There is a decorative embossed bezel framing the portrait. The oval bezel is mounted in the center of a now very worn burgundy velvet fabric mat that is original to the frame. The frame has an easel back and ring for hanging. We opened the back of the frame and found that there was information written on the back of the portrait cover indicating the artist was Aug. Grahl, Castle Schwerin in Mecklenburg, Germany and the name "Alexand". We found several miniature portraits painted by August Grahl of this same beautiful unidentified woman. The name on the lower right of the painting seems to be "F. Loibold". This is a very nice example of 19th Century miniature portrait painting. Frame measures 6 1/2" long and 5 3/8" wide. Portrait site measures 3 1/4" long and 2 1/2" wide. Weighs 9.6 ounces. The porcelain is in excellent Estate condition with no noted damage or flaws. The dore bronze bezel and frame are also in excellent condition. The backing behind the portrait is slightly exposed on the right side (facing) of portrait as portrait may have slipped slightly behind the glass. The portrait The only flaw is the worn velvet covered mat which can be easily replaced should you desire to do so although it is original to the frame. The finish on the back of the frame has darkened with age, however, the front of the frame remains beautiful with naturally aged patina.
