Description: 19th Century Anglo Irish Amber Cut Glass Navette Form Pedestal Centerpiece Bowl. Originating from County Cork glass houses in Ireland, this stunning cut glass centerpiece bowl was made between 1780-1880. Georgian style with Diamond cuts and vertical cut rim, this footed bowl is light for its size indicating its date of manufacture towards the 1700’s. The clear, non etched Diamond shaped foot does have 1 small chip on bottom of piece on corner as well as a blemish on the stem. There is also a fleabite on top rim and scratches on bottom from contact with furniture for many, many years. The interesting shape, navette, or canoe shaped, very common in salt cellars or sweet meat dishes, catches the light at both ends for an impressive display. I am not an expert but I believe this piece may have been made for export as a Georgian fruit bowl, as oranges and grapes were incredibly rare at that time. Approximate dimensions 11.5 inches long by 9 inches tall by 7.25 inches wide. This is a hand made product, and as such has manufacturing imperfections. There are 2 bubbles in the clear base, also known as,”the breath of Ireland” and the piece sits slightly off center. Will pack with care.
